How to port over your existing fax number

Edited

If you're moving your fax service over to Aster, you'll need to follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition. Below is a simple guide to help you complete the required documents and submit them correctly.

Step 1: Gather the Required Documents

To port your fax number to Aster, you’ll need to complete and submit the following documents:

  1. Letter of Agency (LOA)

  2. Port Set Up Spreadsheet (PSS)

  3. Customer Service Record (CSR) from your current telecom provider

Document Descriptions:

  • Letter of Agency (LOA): This form gives us permission to move your fax numbers to our service. Make sure to fill out all the fields and sign it. Don't forget to add the most current date, as this date ensures the document's validity.

  • Customer Service Record (CSR): This document is provided by your current fax service provider. It must include:

    • Your current telecom carrier’s name or logo

    • Your company’s name and service address

    • The list of fax numbers you are porting

    • The Billing Telephone Number (BTN) or Account Telephone Number (ATN) (the primary number on the account)

Note: If you’re unsure of your BTN or ATN, ask your current provider for clarification.

  • Port Set Up Spreadsheet (PSS): This spreadsheet must be filled out with the fax numbers you’re porting. Ensure the numbers match those on the LOA and CSR. Send this file back in its editable Excel format.

Step 2: Submit Your Documents

Once you've completed all three documents:

  1. Attach the LOA, CSR, and PSS in an email.

  2. Send them to hello@astercare.com

Step 3: Monitor the Porting Process

The porting process typically takes 3-4 weeks. The timing depends on the accuracy of your documentation and approval by your current telecom provider. Aster’s porting team will keep you updated throughout the process.

If you’re porting numbers internationally, please email the porting team with the numbers, geographical location, and your current service provider to check if porting is possible.

Fees and Additional Information

  • There is a $15 processing fee and a $15 activation fee per ported number.

  • Temporary numbers are not automatically removed once your porting process is complete. If you need them removed, let us know after the port is finished.
